K-Classic News 탁계석 평론가 | 이토록 많은 가곡을, 이토록 속보력의 작곡가가 또 있을까? 그의 가곡은 다양하고, 어떤 재료로도 노래를 만들어 낸다. 정형적인 틀을 벗어나 서정성과 현대의 경계를 허문 그의 창작에서 진정한 창작자가 투영된다. 하루라도 곡을 쓰지 않으면 잠이 잘 오지 않는 그의 작업 습관이야 말로 천생 작곡가가 아닌가. 그는 대학에도 무척 성실했고 오직 창작만을 위해 고단한 길을 걸어왔다. 그러나 그처럼 행복한 작곡가도 없다. 우선 수확량이 대농(大農)인 데다 개성적인 곡들이 전국 곳곳의 무대에서 뽐낸다. 여기에는 필자와 정 작곡가의 인연도 빼놓을 수 없다. 즉 음식 시리즈의 신호탄이 쏘아진 것이다. 그러니까 와인과 매너를 필두로 된장, 내 사랑 김치, 꽁보리밥으로 이어진 작품들이 반향을 일으켰고. 이게 이상한 것도 잘 다루는 작곡가 캐릭터 형성에 일조를 한 것이 아닐까.(ㅎㅎ) ‘와인과 매너’ 음반에다 최근엔 ‘그대는 내 사랑’ 이란 타이틀로 음반도 내놓았다. 작품 활동으로 오페라, 오라토리오, 칸타타, 관현악곡, 실내악곡, 가곡, 합창곡, 교회음악, 동요, 행사곡 각종 편곡 등 1,000여 작품이 있으니 기네스 도전도 멀지 않은
