[Invitation] Yuriy Serdyuk, Ukraine

Yuriy Serdyuk was born in 1951. He started his music studying at the age of 6. His first musical instrument was Violin. Yuri continued his musical education in the music College of Dniepropetrovsk in classes of contrabass and choir conducting, then in Conservatory of Saratov city (contrabass and symphonic conducting under guidance of Vakhtang Jordania), then in Tadzhik University of Arts (choir conducting) and went his probation in Moscow. 

 

Serdyuk began his professional career in 1969 as the artist of the Dniepropetrovsk Symphonic Orchestra. Since 1976 he has worked as a conductor. He has conducted the Symphonic and Chamber Orchestras, Opera & Ballet Theaters, Ensemble of Song & Dance in Saratov, Alma-Ata, Kharkov and Dniepropetrovsk. In 1989 Yuri Serduk was given an honorific title “Honored Promoter of Arts” of Kazakhstan.

 

His repertoire includes symphonic works by Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Rakhmaninov, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, also operas by Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Puccini, Bizet and others and chamber works by Vivaldi, Corelli, Haendel and Bach. In 1990 Yuriy Serdyuk founded the Dniepropetrovsk Chamber Orchestra. Under his conducting the Orchestra performed the works of different epochs, genres, styles, directions and authors. The series of the thematic programs was prepared, among which were: “J.S.Bach and Sons”, “Western European instrumental concert (Vivaldi, Telemann)”, “Russian-Ukrainian Barocco of XVIII century (Bortnianskiy, Berezovskiy, Vedel)” , “Modern Ukrainian Music (Stankovich, Bibik, Skorik)” and others. Separate programs were dedicated to Tchaikovsky, Greeg, Shostakovich, Sviridov, French and English composers. A CD called “Instrumental Concertos” was issued in 2003.

 

Since 1996 Serdyuk has been the art director of Dniepropetrovsk Philharmonia and principal conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra. In 2002 Vakhtang Dzhordania appointed him the executive director of the International Conductors Competition of Vakhtang Jordania. He also is the owner of “MAESTRO CD RECORDS”, publisher and often is being invited as a guest-conductor by different Orchestras and Opera Theaters. At present he is a senior lecturer and teaches symphonic conducting and computer orchestration at the Dniepropetrovsk Conservatory and also guides the Chamber and Symphonic Orchestras of Conservatory. Yuriy Serdyuk gives master classes. 

 

Since 2007 Serdyuk has been the Art director and principal conductor of Russian Federal Symphonic Orchestra (Moscow).
Since 2010 - Conductor of the Crimean Academic Symphony Orchestra in Yalta.
Since 2014, art director and chief conductor of the Dnieper Youth Pop Symphony Orchestra.

Yuriy Serdyuk has made about 1000 arrangements for Symphonic, Jazz-Symphonic, Chamber and Jazz orchestras and different ensembles.
