오늘 소개해 드릴 '댄싱산조 4'는 독일 베를린 주 독일 한국문화원이 주최하는 베를린 한국창작음악 페스티벌의 위촉으로 작곡되어 지난 10월 30일 독일 콘체르트하우스 체임버홀에서 초연되었던 산조아쟁과 첼로와 피아노를 위한 앙상블 곡입니다.

I would like to introduce my recent composed work, 'Dancing Sanjo 4' which is an ensemble piece for sanjo ajaeng, cello and piano, composed at the request of the Korean New Music Festival in Berlin hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Berlin. It was premiered at the Konzerthaus Berlin, Kleiner Saal in Germany on October 30.

이 곡을 작곡하면서 제가 가장 주목했던 부분은 우리나라 전통악기인 산조 아쟁의 어떤 한계가 없이 자유롭고도 역동적인 사운드와 세련되고 정제된 첼로의 결합 그리고 빛나는 음색의 피아노와의 앙상블 결합을 통해서 춤추는 듯 자유로운 생동감을 지닌 음향적 즐거움을 찾고자 함이었습니다.

what I paid most attention to while composing this piece was the sonic pleasure with a free, dance-like liveliness. This is through the combination of ajaeng's dynamic and energetic sound without any limitations, the sophisticated and refined cello, and the brilliant tone of the piano.

이 곡은 모두 7개의 부분으로 이루어져 있는데 A부분에서는 각 악기들이 C 음과 G 음을 중심으로 각자 조율해 나가는 다스름 부분이라고 할 수 있습니다. B 부분은 도살 풀이 장단에 산조 아쟁이 중심이 되어 곡을 전개해 나가는데 여기서 아쟁의 선율은 박종선류 아쟁  산조의 모티브에서 영감을 받아 작곡 되었습니다. C부분에서는 혼합리듬을 통해 본격적으로 춤추는 듯한 산조의 분위기를 이루어 나가다가 D 부분에서는 올림채 장단을 통해 에너지를 쌓아나가고 E 부분 자진모리 부분에서 모든 악기들의 템포가 빨라지면서 클라이막스를 이루게 됩니다. 

그 후 F 부분에서는 아쟁 독주 카덴자가 나오면서 아쟁이라는 악기의 기량을 충분히 발휘한 후에 마지막 G 부분에서 앞서 오프닝에 나왔던 다스름 부분을 다시 전개하면서 곡은 끝맺게 됩니다.

This piece consists of a total of 7 parts. Part A can be said to be the Daseureum(tuning part) where each instrument tunes around the notes C and G.
The B part focuses on the Dosalpuri rhythm and sanjo ajaeng, and the melody of ajaeng was composed with inspiration from the motif of Jong-seon Park's Ajaeng Sanjo.
In the C part, a full-fledged dance-like sanjo atmosphere is created through mixed rhythms, and in the D part, energy is built up through the Olim-chae jangdan.
In the Jajinmori jangdan part of the E part, the tempo of all instruments speeds up, reaching a climax.
Afterwards, in the F part, the Ajaeng solo cadenza appears, fully demonstrating the skills of the Ajaeng instrument. Lastly in G part, the piece ends with the repetition of the tuning part from the opening.
